Black cherry and curly maple display
cabinet
The solid black cherry display
cabinet shown above is handcrafted over
a three to four week period.
We use solid wood throughout.
The curly maple panels are hand selected and
book-matched.
The sides of the cabinet are also frame and panel with matching
curly maple
panels derived from the same stock as the front panels
and this serves to create a surround effect of curly maple.
Hand carved walnut handles, solid cherry shelving inside with solid brass
supports complement the cabinet.
Interior shelving can be customized.
This cabinet is ideally suited as a centerpiece or cornerpiece along a wall
and
can serve to display small objects of art or a small collection.
The figure of the curly maple is quite dramatic. We use solid brass
knife hinges in
this piece. The matching stand has tapered legs and
is also of solid cherry.
The finishing process is over a period of days
with a light application of finish
and buffing
between applications.
The wood is not sanded but hand scraped to highlight the
figure
and accentuate the fine texture of the wood.
